We do, we do, we really do want to write our own vows!
Congratulations to all newly engaged couples and all engaged couples! I am writing this post during the first week of January. This is right in the middle of the biggest engagement time of year between Thanksgiving and Valentine’s Day. And this year there was an engagement ring under our family Christmas Tree. Our son Paul proposed to his girl friend Liliana on Christmas Day! (She said yes just in case you were wondering). Because of all this I wanted to come up with a way to give each of you an engagement present.
Many couples would like to write their own vows. They may want to, but they don't know what to say or how to start. It may not be as difficult as you think. Having seen many different wedding vows over the years. I put together some thoughts to help you get started in this How to Write Your Own Vows handout. It’s not a fill in the blank form, rather a series of open ended questions to help you get going.
How to Write Your Own Vows
“You are the love of my life because … “
“I promise to be the best husband/wife by … “
“I will always … “

“I love you more than … “
“I will encourage / challenge you to … “
“You inspire me … “

I hope you find these thoughts helpful. Again, congratulations on your engagement!
