PB&J unity Ceremony
I asked Tiffany and Alex (Jovan Photography) why they wanted Peanut Butter and Jelly for their Unity Ceremony? Here’s what they told me:
1 Peanut butter and jelly is the perfect commitment ceremony for us because we are a nontraditional couple.
2 When you think of one, you think of the other. We just go together like P, B & J.
3 We just like to have a good time! What’s more fun and simple than good old peanut butter and jelly?
4 When you think of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich you think of childhood, and we were childhood sweethearts.
5 It describes our relationship perfectly; we are sweet with the perfect amount of nuttiness.
Why Marriage is like a Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich
You can’t separate the peanut butter from the jelly or vice versa once the two pieces of bread are joined, which will describe your marriage from this point on! From this day forward every time we make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, the memories of our wedding will flood back to us. The secret to a happy, healthy marriage is found in the humblest of sandwiches, and in the most ordinary of people.
Like the old saying goes- opposites attract. You have the guy and the girl, the peanut butter and the jelly. You begin on separate pieces of bread- separate lives. One without the other - plain slices of bread- one with a little peanut butter, the other with a little jelly. They’re okay alone, but not great, not complete! Together, you have something in your hands that is complete! It’s more than the sum of its parts. It is not just the sandwich you’ve made. It’s the life you’re making. The married couple you’re becoming.
The two become one, but more than that you become something more than you were. You are a sign to the world of love, life and hope! Now eat, share, enjoy. Taste and see! Life is for living! May you never hunger for the things that truly satisfy. May you always have more than enough love to share with each other and those around you. Now go home! Enjoy each precious moment of the life you begin today. And have another P B and J sandwich!
