Adult Children in Your Wedding
Rich and Kim wanted an intimate Wedding Ceremony with only their adult children in attendance. They also wanted to include their children in their personalized wedding ceremony and in their personalized vows in a special way. Here is a beautiful example of a unique wedding that is sensitive to the needs and preferences of adult children at a wedding.
The Presenting of the Bride opened their wedding celebration with an inclusive twist. It began with my asking each of Kim’s children by name if they were giving their mother’s hand in marriage to Rich. This was followed by asking Rich’s children if they were giving their father’s hand in marriage to Kim today!
When the time came for Rich and Kim’s Vows, they continued this emphasis of including the children by the following beautiful wording:
Do you Rich, take Kim, to love, honor and cherish for all eternity?
“I do!”
Do you also take as part of your family, Michael, Mark and Gabriella, to love, respect and protect all the days of your life?
“I do!”
Do you Kim, take Rich, to love, honor and cherish for all eternity?
“I do!”
Do you also take as part of your family, Nicole, Jill, Natalie and Dean, to love, respect and protect all the days of your life?
Simple and straight from the heart. Not a dry eye in the house!
If such an emphasis on personalizing children’s participation in your wedding ceremony appeals to you, make sure to review the Unity Ceremonies and the Children pages of my website.
