Dedicated to the one I Love

Couples looking for a unique way to personalize their wedding ceremony and also to express some of their feelings of deep gratitude and appreciation for their mother or mothers have many beautiful choices to enrich their ceremony!

Presenting Roses to Mothers Some couples want a special moment just for their mothers. Early in the ceremony, often after initial introductions and welcoming of the guests, the bride and groom go over to their mothers with a rose and give it to them with a kiss. I say words that express just some of the couple’s feelings of love and appreciation that only children could have for those who not only supported and sacrificed for them but gave them life itself. It can be such a very special time to pause and express this before all the other beautiful moments of the couple’s day begins to unfold.

And there are many heartfelt variations that can be used. Often the bride gives the rose and kiss to her mother and the groom to his. It can be done with the bride and groom together going to each mother. One couple I recently officiated for had four roses, so that they could each give their own rose to their and their fiance’s mother. Another couple wanted the Presenting of Roses to include their stepmother. While still another couple wanted to have this moment even though one of their mothers had passed or was unable to attend. The wording was adapted as appropriate for that situation.

A Special Kiss for Mom A simplified variation is to have the couple give a special kiss to the mothers with much of the wording for presenting the roses. How fitting to give a kiss within the wedding ceremony to the one who gave them their first kiss!

What way of expressing your love for your mother on your wedding day is right for you and for her? The heart knows. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!
