Is There Anything More Beautiful

Mark and Linda had wanted to get married for quite a while. The time seemed right with the date of 2/1/21. The numbers were unique and they would be memorable. Their added motivation was that Linda’s mother and father, in their 80’s and 90’s respectively, could be there! In fact, even a nor’easter that began to blanket Long Island with a wintry mix did not deter them! Their ceremony was moved from 4:30 pm to 11 am. And the location was changed from their home to that of her parent’s. It was quite literally a wedding to go! Mark recounted lightheartedly, how appropriate the weather was for their wedding because, he’d always said her, “We’ll get married when he’ll freezes over.” “And here it is!” he laughed.

Their long awaited wedding happened on the day they hoped for with parents serving as both hosts and witnesses! It couldn’t have more appropriate. The first reading, Love is Patient, concludes with the words “Love never fails”. Linda’s mother and father are living examples of that with being married 67 years! And as Mark and Linda were invited to hold hands for a special blessing as a newly married couple, her parents joined hands as well to receive it. It was reminiscent of a popular wedding reading titled Is There Anything More Beautiful that focuses on the beauty of married love in old age. So many blessings all around on such a special day!
